Facebook ads management pricing: what agencies charge in 2026
Most Facebook ads agencies charge a flat monthly fee, a percentage of ad spend (often 10 to 20%), or a mix of both. For a local business, management commonly costs about $750 to $2,500 a month, on top of the money you pay Meta for the ads themselves. Setup fees and minimum contracts vary a lot, so compare what's included, not just the price.
Ad spend vs management fee
There are always two costs, and it helps to keep them apart:
- Ad spend goes to Meta. It pays for your ads to be shown. Ideally it's charged to your own card, in your own ad account.
- The management fee goes to the agency or freelancer. It pays for strategy, ad creation, testing, tracking and reporting.
When you compare quotes, ask each agency to separate the two. A "$1,500 a month package" that includes $500 of ad spend is very different from $1,500 of management plus your ad budget.
The four common pricing models
| Model | How it works | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flat monthly fee | The same fee every month for an agreed scope | Small and steady budgets; easy to plan | Check how many ads, tests and reports the fee covers |
| Percentage of ad spend | Usually 10 to 20% of what you spend with Meta, often with a minimum fee | Larger budgets that change month to month | The agency earns more when you spend more, even if results don't improve |
| Hybrid | A base fee plus a smaller percentage above a set spend | Growing accounts | Make sure the thresholds are written down |
| Performance-based | A fee per lead, booking or sale | Simple, well-tracked offers | Disputes over what counts as a lead; quality can drop |
In Credo's survey of digital marketing providers, about half of social ads agencies offered flat-fee billing, and far fewer offered percentage-of-spend billing (Credo Facebook ads pricing survey).
What agencies charge
| Provider | Typical monthly management fee | Typical fit |
|---|---|---|
| Freelancer | About $300 to $1,000 | One campaign, one location, simple offer |
| Small or local agency | About $750 to $2,500 | Local service businesses that want leads, testing and reporting |
| Larger or specialist agency | About $2,000 to $5,000+ | Multi-location brands, e-commerce and bigger budgets |
| Levela | From $700, plus ad spend paid to Meta | US local businesses that want leads without managing ads |
Credo's survey also found that most social ads providers charge $100 to $200 an hour, and that a base management fee for Facebook ads is often around $2,000 to $2,500 a month at established agencies. These ranges are a guide. Your area, industry, number of campaigns and how much creative you need all move the price.
What should be included?
- Strategy: who to target, which offer to lead with and what a lead is worth to you.
- Tracking: Meta pixel and Conversions API set up and tested, so Meta optimizes for real enquiries.
- Ad creative: copy and images or short videos, refreshed every few weeks.
- Testing: different hooks, offers and audiences, with clear notes on what won.
- Landing page or form advice: the page after the click matters as much as the ad.
- Reporting: cost per lead and leads by campaign, not just clicks and reach.
- Regular check-ins: a call or written update at least once a month.

Setup fees and contracts
Many agencies charge a one-off setup fee to audit your account, install tracking and build the first campaigns. Some include it in the first month. Minimum contracts range from month to month to six or twelve months. A short first term, or a monthly rolling agreement, gives you room to judge results before committing.
Levela bills monthly with no long contract, and you pay ad spend directly to Meta, so the ad account and its data stay yours.
Red flags to watch for
- The agency wants to run ads from its own ad account instead of yours.
- Ad spend and management fee are bundled together with no breakdown.
- Guaranteed numbers of leads before anyone has looked at your offer or tracking.
- Reports that only show reach, impressions and clicks.
- No access for you to see the campaigns yourself.
- A long contract with no way out if results don't arrive.
Questions to ask before you sign
- Is the fee for management only, or does it include ad spend?
- Will the ads run in my own ad account?
- Who creates the ads, and how often are they refreshed?
- How will you track leads, calls and bookings?
- What will the monthly report show?
- What happens in the first 30 days?
- How long is the contract, and how do I end it?
Is an agency worth it?
An agency is worth it when the leads it brings in are worth more than the fee plus the ad spend, and when it frees up time you'd otherwise spend learning Ads Manager. If your budget is very small, training and a solid setup may give you more for your money. To set a sensible ad budget first, see how much Facebook ads cost for a small business.
Frequently asked questions
How much do agencies charge to run Facebook ads?
Local businesses commonly pay about $750 to $2,500 a month in management fees, plus ad spend. Freelancers often charge less; larger agencies more. Levela's ads management starts at $700 a month.
What percentage of ad spend do agencies charge?
Agencies that charge a percentage usually ask for 10 to 20% of monthly ad spend, often with a minimum monthly fee.
Does the management fee include the cost of the ads?
Usually not. Ad spend is normally paid directly to Meta. Always ask agencies to separate the two in their quotes.
Is there usually a setup fee?
Many agencies charge a one-off setup fee for tracking, audits and building the first campaigns. Some include it in the first month.
How long before Facebook ads management shows results?
Give a campaign two to four weeks and enough budget to gather a few dozen leads before judging it. Small daily changes reset Meta's learning and often make results worse.
Should I own my Facebook ad account?
Yes. Ads should run in your own ad account, with the agency added as a partner, so you keep the data and history if you change provider.
